Score: 3/10
I started playing this game, but after the second stage I got absolutely sick of it. There are a lot of reasons for hating this game, but first I need to say all the good things about it. I didn't get any of this myself though. This comes from Gert who actually did finish the game.
The Story: You play as Elhand. An elf warrior who's destine to save the world from the evil Zombie army. You start the Campaign off walking into war with a Zombie army that is busy attacking the town. Save the town, help the Dwarfs and other creatures, collect the magic stones (which will help in destroying the Zombies) end the game.
I haven't spent any time in Campaign mode, because honestly, I don't care.
Pros: This shouldn't take long. Upgrades. Loads and loads of upgrades. Unlike other games that let you level your characters up to a specific Level and then you stop, this game allows your Hero to upgrade until the game is actually finished.
You build experience from fighting other units which in turn gives you some new power slots. You use these like magic cards. During battle you can use these cards to help you win your fight. These can be anything from Freezing arrows to Lava balls.
Cons: The game hangs on multiple places and is not linked to your system. Sometimes you can be walking around and it stops working, other times you can me in the midst of battle and you see your game just crash in front of your eyes. Gert went through the entire game not being able to see any of the Intro Video's. After finishing 1 stage, you need to exit the game, restart the computer and then start again as the game does not know how to use the RAM correctly. I have 4GB and it completely destroys it.
Graphics. The Creatures and units are badly designed. Most of them look like clay figurines that were just mashed together by some 5 year old kid. There is no detail in the characters and the surroundings are over detailed. Camera angles are impossible to control for best views. The zoom function is totally buggered. I don't know who decided to make the camera only be able to zoom in twice. Once for some off angle change and another for a Super close up.
The acting on the campaign is intensely irritating. I don't know who they hired for the acting, but they should be fired and then shot. It's just over acting on it's best! That was one of the 1000 reasons I stopped playing the game.
There is no Training or Tutorial. You need to figure the whole game out by yourself. And it's not one of the easiest things that you can do. The interface is so full of stuff you can do that you spend half the game figuring out stuff that could have helped you in the beginning.
Then there are little issues with graphics like still being able to see the Characters and landscape in places where the Fog of War is still active. This is just bad design. The characters can fire arrows through solid objects like walls and cliffs. Sometimes you would start a stage and all the nature elements are gone and it is only the characters on the stage.
I don't think I should talk about this game anymore as it really is the worst game I have ever seen and not finished!!
